For a very long time now, I have been working at something in the background – it has taken me some time, to get everything as close to right as possible, knowing there is no such thing as ‘perfect’ but I am quite happy with how things have turned out.
Ellipsis Cycling has launched quietly in the last week, with little fanfare or shouting from the rooftops. For a few years, I have spoken of the importance of the ellipsis moment, and here, now, is a brand dedicated to that.
The brand is light in spirit, but serious in its quest to be the best value technical apparel out there. The kit is not made to look good on a mannequin – no – the idea is that its incredible out on the road and the trails. A shirt that fits perfectly when you stand up will flap in the wind while riding in the tuck position and bibs that are comfy while standing up will sit loose when bent over.
Functional apparel was one of the biggest goals of the kit and I am so very happy with how it came out.
Not only is the fit incredible, but we chose very specific fabrics for the panels under the arms, back and shoulder/chest, so that the jersey works well during races where its cold first thing in the morning, and sweltering by the time the winning move goes.
I have used the best chamois I can get my hands on and its just suffered 5-6 hours a day at Cape Pioneer without a touch of sore bum syndrome.
We (myself + designers) will be releasing 4 new designs every 6 months and growing our accessories list as we go. Soon you will see t-shirts, water bottles and the likes added as well.
It’s been a great journey to get it here, out in the ‘wild’ per se, and yet, I know this is just the end of the beginning. A big thanks to those who have been involved somehow in the journey, and those who have already bought stuff. Now onto the 4 shirts, front view, in this season.
