Shut up body!

That. Is. All. For. Today.

No actually wait. I put this up here because I have been having this conversation between cerebellum and quadriceps/glutes/hamstrings for a few days now while training. I felt good for about 10 minutes of my 45 minute run this morning but that was all since Saturday, say, um, around 3pm. It’s amazing how far we can push ourselves if we ignore the body.

I heard an analogy once that our bodies only release enough energy to get us to the finish line and that it takes years of practise to get everything out the body. How often do you finish a race totally shattered, only to be able to run a decent cool down 10 minutes later, feeling quite fresh? It used to happen to me all the time. Now I can race to the point where I can’t lift my foot the day afterwards. The key is to learn when to push that hard, that it’s for special occasions only. Otherwise you end up like this guy:

Watch 3rd place come across the line.

Hero stuff that.
