Pure Planet Racing: How Green is your Internet Usage

How Green Is Your Internet? from Patrick Clair on Vimeo.

Great. By being more popular online (and getting more people to your website), you destroy the world, in a small way. Instead of looking at this as a negative, I thought I would share some tips on how to reduce Internet time. It’s quite easy to cut an hour of surfing time each day by following a few simple steps:

1. Invest in a RSS Reader – it cuts load times, surf times and puts all the information from your favorite sites in 1 place. Google Reader is my choice.

2. Keep social networking to your mobile. Using Facebook/Twitter through your smart phone not only reduces the time you spend online, but means you are not browsing in a zen like state waiting for something to happen. I find I am far less inclined to zone out if I keep it to the mobile.

3. Schedule your day. Make time for the Internet and stick to that time. Senselessly browsing hour after hour wastes a lot of energy and kills your productivity.

If you can manage these 3 things, you will find there is more time to play, connect with real people and get out on the trails. Simple…
