a story for tomorrow. from gnarly bay productions, Inc. on Vimeo.

Back to the norm here. That means flat out inspirational pieces that make you want to be outside, or in the case of today’s post, get lost on purpose. It’s no secret that I like to plan ahead. As I sit here in the rain in Cape Town, this video inspired me to plan a trip to get to this part of the world. Sure, there is the Atacama Desert Marathon, which sits on my list of things to do…

But I am talking about a simple wander, without a real plan, for a few weeks.

Somewhere that’s completely foreign in terms of language, culture, environment. Somewhere to discover your senses all over again. A trip that lasts a lifetime. That you never quite get over. Sure, this is post-ironman talk, but damn it, I am feeling the wanderlust when I watch clips like these.

We live in a world where you are never too old to travel, where you can explore parts of the world that didn’t exist for our parents. Where undiscovered is a word that brings inspiration, not fear.

My good friend Nic Lamond has traveled more than most and I find him to be one of the most complete people I know. Not travel 5 star and see the restaurants, but travel to immerse in culture, experience and possibly, a little danger. It makes us bigger people.

Do we ever stop planning for more?

I firmly believe this is a plan for less. To travel simply without a plan and without consequence. To take less and leave less footprints, to follow the sun and be a part of the solution.

Today I have wanderlust and this video is my reason for it. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
