  This afternoon I was sitting at a pleasant coffee haunt where the espresso is strong enough to wake even Mario Cippolini after the Miss Italy Pageant hangover, pondering the meaning of professional racing with one of my favourite gentleman when a young man who I have come to admire walked by and had a seat at my table. His attitude was refreshing as always. Thoughtful, questioning everything and exploring every angle at all times. This was only to do with my espresso.   I am 80% through an immense day, covering 226 kilometers across three sports, combined into a silly race, called Ironman. There are 1800 other stupid people around me, attempting the same thing. We all seem so content in our suffering. My right leg is twitching, on the verge of cramp. My head throbs as the heat takes its toll, the wind behind me, pushing me back towards the finish line area where one more lap of hell awaits me before I can own the red carpet like Ulrich got owned up L’Alpe that year.
